Daniel Shermer, along with Guest Coach Mark Heese (picture), Olympic Medalist, and a great group of talented coaches have made our program one of the best Beach Volleyball programs available. Daniel, a former Beach Champion, has coached many of the top male and female athletes that have represented Canada at National and International Beach Volleyball competitions. Daniel is also an accomplished Indoor player and coach. He has gathered National Team Beach players and various elite coaches to appear as guest coaches for this summers programs.
Storm League includes programs for Skill Development, League Play and Mini Volleyball as well as a competitive 2's program for both Intermediate and Elite athletes. We have programs for youth boys and girls from 5-18 years of age.
Skills/League focuses on all the specific technical skills that are needed to build a foundation for a well-rounded Volleyball player and then puts them into practice in a game situation. This program is valuable to both new and returning athletes because they are split by a combination of age and ability so they will continue to develop at their own level. Coaches will teach the technical elements of each skill and then run the athletes through drills to practice what they have learned. By focusing time and energy on technical skills, athletes will possess the fundamentals to progress to the next level. Some parts of the program will be Co-Ed.
Storm Mini-Volleyball is a non-competitive program designed for children 5-8 years old. This program will be high-energy, fun and creative where children will be introduced to various games and activities which involve aspects that are closely related to Volleyball. Storm Mini-Volleyball is designed to promote confidence, self-esteem and teamwork!
Competitive 2's is designed for athletes that are experienced players that would like to raise their game to the next level. If you want to train twice per week choose one of the Elite programs, otherwise choose one of the Intermediate programs. These programs are also designed for athletes wanting to play on the OVA Beach Tour this summer. Emphasis will be on improving execution of specific technical and tactical skills while also focusing on the physical and mental aspects of the game. This program is valuable to both new and returning athletes to continue building the foundation of a well-rounded Volleyball player. Athletes will be split by a combination of age and ability so they will continue to develop at their own level. Coaches will continue to work on the technical elements of each skill and will introduce the mental and tactical aspects of the game and help implement them in game situations. Some parts of the program will be Co-Ed.
